Harvey was a track and field star at Northwestern, a Southern University Athletic Hall of Fame inductee and a 1968 NFL wide receiver draft pick for the New York Jets, the team Joe Namath led as quarterback. His NFL career lasted only a single season. He went to serve his country in Vietnam for two years and then returned for three years in the reserves.

Harvey joined the Miami Police Department in 1986. He worked as the neighborhood resource officer in Little Haiti where he made a lasting impact. He is remembered for his generosity and big heart. He passed away on Monday, January 11, 2016.

Well done Harvey, may you rest in peace.
